Day 3,4 Polson, MT
For the last six months or so, we've been asking family, friends and random acquaintances for places they would recommend we go. One recommendation we got through a craigslist acquaintance was for Flathead Lake in Montana. This was our first big stop on our trip and we can see why he recommended it. Located at the foothills of the Rockies, the city of Polson has beautiful views of mountains and hills almost everywhere you look.
The lake itself is about 20 miles long and has many beautiful beaches, waterfront parks and swimming areas. We stayed at a quiet, relaxing RV park that had it's own dock on the lake and when Alex and I jumped in the clear, warm water, it finally felt like summer had started. (For those who don't know, Seattle has yet to have a consistently hot, sunny week this summer)
After a delicious dinner of rosemary crust chicken, lemon rice, honey glazed carrots, and homemade garlic bread; we walked around the small town and discovered that by 9:30 PM, the entire city of Polson is already asleep. We did however catch a beautiful sunset over the water.
Today after more relaxing and some last minute preping, we're off to Canada!
Highlight of the day: While we were in line at Safeway, there was an elderly man in front of us holding four gallons of ice cream with a huge grin on his face! Random but hilarious!
