Day 6 Banff, AB, Canada

Banff National Park was a special stop for us, not only because it's one of the most beautiful places on the earth, but also because this is where my parents came on their honeymoon 34 years ago. The forest in the Rockies is huge and largely undisturbed making it a very tranquil and relaxing area. Lake Louise is probably what Banff is most well known for, and it wasn't hard to imagine why with its view of the mountains and strangely blue water.

As beautiful as the lake and surrounding area were, we were disappointed by how crowded with tourists the area was. Although still peaceful and beautiful, the crowds who come from all over the world to see the lake made it a bit less enjoyable.

Lake Morraine about 15 km away from Lake Louise was a different story. This lake gets a lot less publicity and a lot less visitors. Also having a small road that campers can't go on helps to keep tourists away. Alex and I noticed a lookout point at the top of a hill of boulders basically and being adventurous, we just started climbing up the boulders. Thankfully I didn't look down as we were climbing or I probably would've freaked and been stuck in the middle of the hill. Once we got to the top we were greeted with an amazing view of the lake and also a bunch of tourists staring at us like we were crazy. That's when we realized there was a trail through the forest that lead up to the lookout. Oh well, we had fun!

We also decided that the water is too blue to be real. We're pretty sure they dye it that blue to attract tourists. Those Canadians....
